It should probably be called "Reel 2018" as that is when most of the content was produced, but such is the nomenclature of marketing. Many of the videos I produce are soup to nuts - meaning I meet with a client, we talk about what is needed, I write up a proposal, then a script, we capture the images and sounds, then I get to edit, too. Really special days are when someone hires me just to capture video - sometimes setting up a bunch of lights and cameras and other times just lensing the light and subject that is there. All is good, and gosh do I love what I get to do!
My favorite projects are ones that introduce me to people that live in the moment. The women of Family Focus Resource Center all have raised children with disabilities. The service they provide is helping parents new to the same situation learn of the various programs and services available to them.
I let these service providers and consumers tell their own stories. The intended viewer of the video, often a parent that has just confirmed their belief that their child has an issue needing special help, meets the people on screen that they may well meet in the office at a later date. The consumer testimonials from the parents currently making use of FFRC services are genuine, captured with my direct-to-camera interview technique. Familiarity, in this case, breeds trust.

Having been an agent for commercial artists for a couple of decades and now promoting myself as the creative I am SO much more empathetic to the difficulty of deciding what to show. Creating a "sizzle" reel is a process of selecting the best new work, parting ways with some old favorites, and combining it, somehow, into a visual narrative.
This is the best of what I do. This is what I love to do. This is me, without me being in front of the camera.
It is safe to say that I am a generalist within the broad niche of people-based videos. Yes, I've shot some products and done it well, but I sing best (no, you don't want to hear that!) with a person in front of the camera. I work with directors or by myself, with on-camera interviewers or by myself, with a crew of many or of very few. Often it is myself, or myself and one person that can capture a nice interview or testimonial.
In the past year I have vastly upgraded my equipment. In truth, given pretty much any camera I can capture a still or video clip of interest, but quality of the digital information, audio and video alike, does make a difference. Most of the newer work is at the front end of this reel. I think the difference shows.
